The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for a large portion of East Central Kansas. This includes Douglas, Shawnee, Franklin and Johnson Counties.

The advisory is in effect from Midnight tonight until 6:00 PM Monday evening.

Forecasters are predicting between 1 to 2 inches if snow and freezing drizzle to add a thin layer of ice.  Light snow is expected to develop across the area overnight tonight and continue into Monday before mixing with drizzle and light freezing drizzle by midday Monday. The mix likely will linger through the afternoon before diminishing by evening.

The bulk of precipitation is expected to arrive between 3:00 AM and 10:00 AM Monday making for a very difficult drive Monday morning.  Make sure to plan on extra time getting around Monday morning and drive carefully and slowly. Watch bridges and overpasses for slick spots and use caution.
