The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a winter weather advisory for Douglas County until 1 AM Thursday morning.   Snow is expected to continue until 1AM with up to an inch of accumulation.

Driving conditions could be extremely hazardous this evening and into the early morning hours as winds up to 40mph can cause limited visibility.  Along with the snow and wind, rapidly falling temperatures can and likely will cause some icy patches on roadways.

If it absolutely necessary to be out prior to sunrise, make sure to slow down and be careful as you make your way around the entire region.

The advisory is in effect for a large portion of east central Kansas.
