Eudora Head Football Coach Gregg Webb is headed to the Show Me State.  Webb was introduced as the new Head Coach for the Truman High School Patriots during halftime of the Truman High School Basketball game at the Independence Events Center on Saturday.

“I am very excited to give this school a solid, respectable team,” Webb told the crowd in Independence.

Webb, who has served as the Cardinals head coach since 2002, took the team to the playoffs in 9 of the 10 years he was in Eudora including two state championship games in 2011 and 2012.  Prior to coming to Eudora, Webb was the head coach at Claflin High School from 1987 to 2002 and led them to five State Championships.

Webb inherits a program that went just 1-9 in 2012. Former Truman Head Coach Jeff Floyd resigned from the program in November after going 6-25 over three seasons.

Attempts to reach Webb have so far been unsuccessful. In a quote to the Truman High School online newspaper THS Media Online, Webb spoke of his reason for selecting Truman as his next destination.

“What sold me was the administration,” Webb said. “They told me that we can do this.”

School District officials believe that Webb will complete his Social Studies teaching assignment this school year in Eudora before heading east.

Officials from Eudora High School have not yet responded on whether the next Head Coach will come from inside the District or an outside search will be conducted.
