Tornado Crossing Countryside

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for much of East Central Kansas including Douglas County.  The watch is in effect until 10:00 PM Wednesday.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect until 7:00 AM Thursday morning.

A Tornado Watch means atmospheric conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes.  No tornado has occurred or been spotted.

The weather forecast  for this evening says that strong thunderstorms are likely. Storms could contain large hail. The chance of rain 70%.

With potential heavy rainfall amounts, the ground will not be able to absorb all the rain coming down.  Between one to three inches of rain is being predicted and the water will runoff onto roadways and low lying areas.
