Snow continues to fall over East Central Kansas today.  As of 10:30AM, unofficial measurements have around 4 to 5 inches on the ground so far. Snow is expected to fall through the day today according to the National Weather Service.  Forecasts currently call for 3 to 5 inches today with an additional 1 to 2 inches tonight.

Editor’s note: Considering the measurements we have taken and a look at the radar, we expect to get more than 7 inches total.

Once the snow stops later on today, winds are expected to pick up and temperatures are forecast to plummet. With the wind, accumulated snow will be blowing and drifting. If traveling the roads tonight or tomorrow morning, motorists will want to take precautions as drifting snow can easily cover parts of roadways and make for extremely hazardous driving conditions.
