The Eudora Pedestrian Safety Committee is a grassroots committee of Eudora citizens and community leaders. This committee has been working for several years at finding creative and alternate means of connecting this community. The ultimate goal is to connect North and South as well as East and West Eudora with walking trails and a pedestrian bridge across K-10.
Some strides have been made in recognizing the importance of safe pedestrian pathways and identifying problem areas around town, unfortunately the lack of financing a pedestrian bridge has pretty much forced the committee to look at alternate pedestrian access to the South side of town.
Recently there have been some studies done looking at alternate pedestrian access over the current bridge as well as research on adding sidewalks on the west side of Church St and the bridge embankments.
The results of these studies/research will be the topic of the Thursday, October 21 meeting at 7pm in City Hall. Anyone who is interested in improving Eudora Pedestrian Safety is encouraged to attend. Especially those with expertise in grant writing!
