In a surprising move last Friday, Chamber of Commerce President Susie Pryor resigned as Chamber of Commerce president and relinquished her seat on the Executive Board, effective immediately.  Pryor, in a statement emailed to Chamber members, spoke of the reason for her resignation.

“I stepped because of a difference in opinion with the City regarding a matter entirely unrelated to the Chamber.”

Pryor, when contacted by, declined to state what the difference of opinion was with the City.

“Due to the close relationship between the City and the Chamber, I felt the Chamber would be better served by another individual,” Pryor said. “Frankly, I felt this was the ethical course of action, as the Chamber does receive significant financial support from the City.”

Pryor was named President of the Chamber of Commerce in March 2011 with her term set to expire in March 2013.

The Chamber of Commerce Executive Board met on Wednesday to decide what course of action to take in light of Pryor’s resignation. In a statement sent to, the Chamber announced that President-Elect Amanda Hermann will serve as President for the remainder of Pryor’s term.

“The Executive Board appreciates Ms. Pryor’s service and wishes her the best in her future endeavors,” the statement read. “The Executive Board is committed to the numerous initiatives currently under-way and the Executive Board is confident in the future leadership of the organization as we continue to strengthen the Eudora business community.”

The Executive Board is made up of a group of local business owners including Hermann,  Past-President Amy Durkin,  Angie Miller, Linda Langston, Kathy Brechenisen and Deb Barr.

Hermann said that she is excited about the opportunity to serve as Chamber President.

“I look forward to, and will keep working hard towards fulfilling and exceeding the community goals,” Hermann said. “We have made great strides already with the Family Fun Night and Shop Eudora First campaign and I anticipate even greater things in the weeks and months to come.”
