If you think fairy tales are just for kids, you haven’t read EHS graduate Steeven R. Orr’s book called Holliday’s Gold, a Modern Re-telling of “Goldilocks & the Three Bears.”   In this whimsical tale set in fictional Grimmelton, KS, you’ll meet Goldilocks and the bear family, but it’s a whole different adventure from that point on.  Throughout the story, you will also bump into some other familiar characters, like the three pigs, Jack Horner, the Beast and even Doc Holiday.  It’s a book filled with unexpected twists and turns, humor and yes, some weirdness.   Because you’re never quite sure where this story is taking you, it is hard to put down once you get started.

Orr self-published Holliday’s Gold, and it is available on Amazon in both paperback and e-book form (http://www.amazon.com).

Steeven Orr graduated from Eudora High School in 1990 and has a day job as a supervisor at a call center, but he’s pursuing his writing career every chance he has.  His kids inspired him to write this particular book.

“I had read ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ to my kids one night” explained Orr, “and thought it might be fun to do my own modern spin on it, something both kids and adults might enjoy.  I spent three years writing and then editing and getting it ready for publication, but I’d bet 40-50% of that time was pure procrastination.”

While this is his first full-length novel, he’s written and published two short e-books, he recently published his first in a series set in Eudora called Chronicles of Norman.  The series is about a private investigator named Norman Oklahoma who specializes “in the Supernatural, the unexplained, and the just plain weird” according to Orr.  The first installment is available now on Amazon for Kindle, and others will be available each month.

He is currently writing his next novel called My Super Midlife Crisis about a man in his mid-thirties who is married with two kids when he suddenly finds himself with super powers.  He hopes to have it done by the end of the year.

Those who knew Steeven Orr in high school probably remember him as a drummer who had his sights set on the rock-n-roll lifestyle.  But writing is his passion now.

“I was going to be a rock star, there was no doubt in my mind,” said Orr.  “Well, that didn’t happen.  I’m much happier writing than I ever was playing music.”

Orr resides in Lecompton, KS with his wife and three children.  Visit his website at http://www.steevenorrelse.com/.
