From May 23 through June 5 2011, Officers from the Eudora Police Department will be participating in the national “Click it or Ticket” traffic enforcement campaign which focuses on occupant restraint (seatbelt and child seat) enforcement. Officers will be focusing on stopping and citing motorists who are not wearing seatbelts, unrestrained passengers and child safety seat violations.

State law makes the seatbelt violation a primary offense which means that an officer can stop a driver that he or she observes driving without their seatbelt.

Eudora Police will have extra saturation patrols going on during the campaign to ensure drivers are properly buckled up.

“Also, if citizens see a police officer driving around town without a seatbelt, I want to know about that too” Eudora Police Chief Grady Walker stated. “We need to make sure we practice what we preach.”
