Megan Helm

Eudora News and Information is proud to announce the addition of Megan Helm to the staff. Helm will serve as the education reporter for the site.

Helm, hails from St. Louis, MO.  She began her writing career as a “mommy blogger” for the now defunct, Free State website.  She was a regular contributor to Present and still reports for, an online performing arts journal in Kansas City.  Her work can be found in back issues of KC Parent Magazine, Shawnee Magazine, Leawood and Johnson County Lifestyle Magazines and the Lawrence Journal World.

She has studied Theater at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pennsylvania, Music at the Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio and has degrees in History and Music Education from the University of Kansas.  She is currently an educator in the Turner School District in Kansas City, Kansas and has served on the Site Council at Sunset Hill Elementary School in Lawrence.

In 2006, Helm was a National Endowment for the Arts Fellow for Classical Music and Opera at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.  She is currently researching the ways Music can function in Education and looking forward to featuring the students, teachers, administrators, board members and community stake holders that make Eudora special.

Helm replaces Susie Pryor who recently resigned to focus on the needs of the Eudora Chamber of Commerce where she serves as President.
