Eudora Middle School Principal Rich Proffitt had been named the Superintendent of the Southeast of Saline School District located near Salina. Proffitt will assume his new duties on July 1.   Southeast of Saline is a large 3A school with a student population of approximately 750 students.

“It’s bittersweet leaving behind a community I love, but it’s an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.” Proffitt said.

Proffitt has been with the Eudora School District since 2002 and served as principal of Eudora Middle School since 2006.

Eudora School District Superintendent Don Grosdidier commented that “I have mixed emotions about this because he’s been a very valuable asset and strong leader and at the same time I’m very exited for him. This is a goal he’s been working towards and it’s exciting to see people move on to bigger and better things.”

Southeast of Saline Board President Lori Blake stated “Mr. Proffitt will have what it takes to continue guiding our district’s talented teachers and staff to strive toward developing the excellence and innovation for student learning that has become the expectation of associated with Southeast of Saline.”

The Eudora School District will begin the search for a replacement immediately. Grosdidier said that the job should be posted later this week and over the course of the next few weeks administration officials would be seeking feedback for the Middle School community, including both staff and parents.

“We hope to have a candidate identified to the take to the board in April or May.” Grosdider said.
