Jerry Trober Sr.

Eudora News and
Over the coming days we plan on bringing you profiles of the candidates for both Eudora City Council and the Eudora School Board.  We sent out a questionnaire to all candidates and asked them the exact same questions. Their responses to the questions will be printed verbatim.  This is opportunity for you, the reader, to see not only their responses but how they respond.  The questions in the survey came from both editorial board decisions and reader input.

Today, we profile Jerry Trober, Sr.

Mr. Trober, please tell about your background.

I am 65 and married with 4 grandchildren who attend the Eudora schools.  I worked at Farmland Industries for 26.

What qualifications do you have for a seat on the City Council?

I have lived in Eudora for 50+ years  and worked for the city of Eudora for the last 10 years at the waste water plant until I retired last July.   I have been president of the  Eudora CPA that we have every July  for the past 23 years.

What do you think is the most important issue that faces the City Council?

City spending is out of control.

How would you help improve the city budget?

Monitor city spending closely and base decisions on need.

Many citizens complain about the water quality in the city. Do you have ideas on how to improve the water conditions?

Listen to the pros who have told us what we need to do and it hasn’t been done.

Many citizens feel taxes and utility costs are high. What are your opinions on taxes and utility costs?

They are both too high and these issues need to be studied.

What ideas do you have to increases businesses and jobs in Eudora?

In my opinion the city of Eudora has been difficult to deal with for business start ups and we have that reputation.  We need to work with people who want to start a business, not turn them away.

What other issues do you feel are important to the City Council?

The sewer lines in the older part of Eudora are 60 years old and  at some future point need to be replaced.   Another issue is to work with contractors who come to our city to build houses.  Again the city has a reputation for being difficult to deal with.

We will be bringing you the responses from all the candidates over the coming days and week leading up to the election. You will have the opportunity to meet the candidates face to face on March 23rd when The Eudora Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsor our “Meet the Candidates” forum. The forum will begin at 6:30PM.
