Now that the Thanksgiving weekend is behind us and we have all had our fill of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and everything else we can get our hands on, we turn to preparing for the next season on the calendar: the shopping season.

Black Friday sales abounded, and the lines at many stores in Lawrence and Kansas City were plenty long. The internet will be a buzz today with Cyber Monday deals and stores will be looking to try to rake in the holiday cash that’s out there.

We decided to get a feel of the economy in Eudora. We have a new poll question for the holidays: Will you be spending less, more or the same this year? Let us know. Comments are always welcome to on your thoughts about this or any topic.

Yes, we know Halloween has not even passed yet, but soon after Halloween,  the holidays will be upon us before we know it.

The Eudora Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an annual Holiday Extravaganza. This party will be on Saturday December 4 at the Eudora Community Center. This Eudora High School Choir will be performing and Santa Claus will also be on hand. Children will be able to get their picture taken with Santa Claus. Carriage rides and possibly a sleigh will be on site too for picture opportunities.

An auction of trees, donated and decorated by local businesses will also take place. These trees will be placed around local Eudora establishments prior to the auction, with the highest bidder taking home a tree at the Holiday Extravaganza. If your business is interested in donating and decorating a tree, contact Amanda Herrmann at 785-691-6314. There still is time left.

All proceeds from the Holiday Extravaganza will benefit Community Living Opportunities (CLO) based in Lawrence, KS. CLO helps adults and children with severe developmental disabilities achieve personally satisfying and fulfilling lifestyles. CLO operates Midnight Farm which is located just south of Eudora.

The Eudora Chamber of Commerce is also working with the City of Eudora this year to adorn our city for the holidays. More details to come later about what promises to be something very special and make our city proud!
