The Eudora Parks and Recreation Department received a $2,500 grant funded by proceeds from the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association 2014 LMH Summer Spray 5K Run/Walk Series. Grants are awarded to a program or project that promotes health and wellness in each host communities of Eudora, Tonganoxie, and Baldwin City.

The grant money is being used by the Eudora Parks and Recreation Department to launch “Healthy Snacks for Life” which serves healthy snacks to children daily who attend summer camp and Eudora Elementary School’s Quest After-School Program during the 2015-2016 school year. Combining the snacks with nutrition education, they will reinforce healthy eating habits and lifestyle choices.

The 2015 LMH Summer Spray 5K Run/Walk Series in Eudora is being held on Saturday, June 20 at 8:00 am at the Eudora Parks and Recreation Center. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. Participants in the event, run or walk a certified course, and are doused with water by volunteers. The race concludes with a fire engine spray salute at the finish line.

All ages are encouraged to participate. In addition, a team division has been added this year, and prizes will be awarded in several categories. For more information about this event or to register for the 5K, please visit

3/28/13 Update: 

We just received word from the Parks and Rec Department that due to expected thunderstorms on Saturday, the Easter Egg hunt has been moved from the West Sports Complex Baseball Field to the Eudora Rec Center Gymnasium.  The hunt still begins at 3:00 PM and the Easter Bunny will still be there, it’s just now an indoor event.  The gymnasium is located at 1630 Elm Street in Eudora.

As we approach the Easter weekend several events are going on around town.

The Eudora Lions Club will be hosting their annual Pancake Feed on Saturday morning from 7:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Eudora Rec Center 1630 Elm Street in Eudora.  This is one of the major fundraising events for the organization.  The cost is $5 for adults, Children (4-12) is $3 and kids 3 and under eat free.

Saturday afternoon, the Eudora Parks and Rec Department will hold their annual Easter Egg Hunt.   The hunt will be at the West Sports Complex Baseball Field located at 12th Street and Winchester Road in Eudora.  The hunt begins at 3:00 PM.  The Easter Bunny will also make an appearance during the hunt and kids will get their chance to have their picture taken with him…or is it her??? Don’t be late!


The City of Eudora and the Parks and Recreation Department are wanting to help you get in better shape.  They have reduced the prices of memberships to the Fitness Club at the Rec Center, 1630 Elm St.

Membership packages are available month to month, a 6 month membership, or a yearly membership.

If you pay monthly, the cost is $20 per month for a single membership or $30 for a family membership.  The 6 month membership  is discounted to $100 for a single and $150 for a family. The year long membership costs $240 for a single and $360 for a family. With the one year package, pool use privileges are included with your membership.

The Fitness Center is open 24 hours a day, via key card access.

John Harrenstein, Eudora City Administrator, stated at the City Council meeting where the new rates were approved, that the city wanted to try to give a little back to the citizens of Eudora and this is one way they could do so. They also wanted to help spur interest in the facilities available at the Rec Center.
