The students in Noah Musser’s Graphic Design 1 course at EHS took on a fun challenge this spring: to design a new logo for Eudora’s Farmers’ Market.  Each student in the class, which is part of the ED-TEC curriculum at the school, submitted a design as part of the assignment.  To prepare for the assignment each of the ten students had to research and critique several existing logos of farmers’ markets across the U.S.  They were required to turn in both a black and white as well as a color design.  They used the computer as a design tool, utilizing programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

Each of the logos was unique and creative, making a difficult decision for the Eudora Farmers’ Market representatives to choose just one.  But the unanimous favorite was the bright and cheery logo with sunflowers and veggies created by senior Hannah Penrose.

The representatives of the Eudora Farmers’ Market would like to thank instructor Noah Musser and all of his students for taking on this project.  Job well done!

Eudora News and Information ~ www.eudorareporter.com

After a long and cold winter we can finally say it:  It’s spring!  The robins are back, the crocus are popping up and the trees have buds.  This all means one thing to the gardeners among us–it’s time to start digging in the dirt.  For vegetable gardeners it means preparing the soil, making countless trips to the greenhouse and getting those early crops in the ground.

It’s also time to start thinking about the 2014 Farmers Market. Eudora held its first Farmers Market last summer on Friday evenings.  Though it was small, it was still successful.  A variety of vegetables, fruits, breads and even dog biscuits were sold by the vendors, and most Friday nights Frentzel’s Bar B Que was on hand with their delectable smoked meats ready to be taken home to the dinner table.  It was a fun atmosphere, and a great place to run into friends and neighbors while shopping for some locally grown food.

Eudora’s 2014 Farmers Market is scheduled to begin May 16 and will be held on Friday evenings from 5:00-7:00 pm until August 19.  It will once again be held in the Nottingham parking lot in the 1400 block of Church St.  Parks and Rec officials are hoping this year’s market is even bigger and better than last season’s.  They are looking for additional vendors selling anything from locally grown produce to flowers to baked goods.  They are would love to have homemade jams and jellies, local honey and eggs, and would be excited to include additional food vendors and even musicians to add some sparkle to the event.

The price is incredibly reasonable.  A vendor pays only $25 for a space in the market for the whole summer, or $5 per event if one can only be there occasionally.  Citizens and city leaders hope you’ll consider joining a fun-loving group of gardeners at this year’s Farmers Market.  There are some specific rules for vendors so be sure to open the link below for the Eudora Farmer’s Market 2014 Rules and Regulations.   You’ll also find a link for the 2014 Eudora Farmers Market Application.  Questions?  Contact eudorafarmersmarket@gmail.com.  Applications can be emailed to that email address or dropped off at the Eudora Community Center, 1638 Elm St.
