The Eudora Amateur Baseball and Softball Association (EABSA) has announced that registration is open for the 2012 Season.

EABSA is a volunteer run organization helping to promote youth recreational baseball and softball for over 20 years here in Eudora. Their primary mission is to provide youth a quality recreational experience through a positive learning environment.

With help from the Eudora School District and the City of Eudora, they were able to have over 25 teams and 350 kids in the program last year.   Their ages range is from 5 years old to 14 years old, playing baseball and softball with the season running from early May to the end of June.

In 2012,  online registration is available for the first time.  Please visit their website at www.eudorabaseball.com for more information.  On site registration will be held at the Eudora Community Center on Wednesday, Feb 29th from 6pm to 9pm and Saturday, March 3rd from 9am to 12pm.   March 3rd is the last day for regular registration.  Registrations from March 4th to March 16th will be assessed a late fee.

The Eudora Amateur Baseball and Softball Association hosted its annual T-ball Tournament the weekend of June 17-18.

After sizzling in the heat for two games, the Lightning Bolts were crowned the 2011 EABSA T-ball Champions.   The Lightning Bolts beat the Ducks in a four inning battle to win the championship.

Seven teams from Eudora participated in the tournament. All the kids in the tournament were 5 to 6 years old.

“I think the parents had as much fun as the kids” according to proud parent Carrie Fewins.

We wanted to update you on a couple of notes about the tragic accident that occurred this weekend on K-10.

We were alerted that Deborah Basel commonly goes by Ann (Breithaupt) Basel. Ann was injured in the crash that occurred on Saturday afternoon.  We have not received any word as to an update on her condition.

A remembrance fund for Cainan Shutt has been set up by Jeff Pierce,  President of the Eudora Amateur Baseball and Softball Association and the EABSA Board of Directors.  Cainan was the 5-year-old boy who passed away a short time after the accident.  Cainan was to play T-ball this year on an EABSA team.

A link to a site where people can donate to the fund has been set up at:
