Eudora News and Information ~

Eudora’s annual CPA Picnic may still be more than a month away, but you can begin your CPA celebrations early with a special event on Saturday, June 14th, hosted by the Eudora Township Library and Friends of the Library. It’s a book signing (and a whole lot more) with author Isla Morley, and will be held at the CPA Park in downtown Eudora from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Morley’s suspenseful novel called Above is staged in Eudora during a CPA Picnic. The Raven Bookstore will be on hand to sell copies of the book.

Though Morley is from South Africa, her husband Bob grew up in Eudora, and she chose the community for the setting for the book. It is a dystopian novel full of tension, horror and suspense, guaranteed to keep the reader on the edge of his seat. Without giving too much of the story away, I will tell you that one of the main characters is a teenage girl who gets Cover finalkidnapped at Eudora’s annual CPA Picnic. She is taken to an abandoned silo outside town by a survivalist, and there the terror begins.

Library director Carol Wohlford describes Morley as an “excellent author” and she is excited about the event, though she was initially reluctant to get on board when Morley’s husband approached her about a book signing.

“At first I said ‘no’ about an event because book signings don’t usually go over well in small towns,” said Wohlford. “But Bob told me to take the book home and read it. I did, and I couldn’t put it down.”

Ms Morley will speak at 11:00 a.m. in the park.  There will be lots of other things for adults and kids alike to enjoy throughout the day. Friends of the Library have coordinated a “Boutique” Book and Gift Sale to raise funds for the library. In addition there will be food and drinks, music and a kid-zone with all kinds of fun activities for children. The author’s husband Bob Morley will be one of the musicians performing.

Mark your calendars for June 14th so you won’t miss your chance to meet Isla Morley, buy a copy of the book Above and enjoy a fun day at the park.
