Eudora Fire and Police crews were called to the scene of a one car accident at 27th and Stratton Drive Friday morning around 11:35 AM.  According to Eudora Fire Chief Ken Keiter, an SUV ran into the light pole on the Southeast corner of the intersection.

The driver was transported via ambulance to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

“The driver had some abrasions due to the front and side airbags deploying,” Keiter said. “Other than that, they did not appear to have any severe issues.”

Eudora Public Works crews were on the scene quickly to turn off power to the light pole.  Keiter stated that the crews were able to isolate the power to that pole only and cut electrical service to the pole.  Keiter believed electrical service to houses in the area was unaffected.

Public works crews are now working to clear the pole from the yard.  There was no estimate on how long before the light pole would be replaced.

The cause of the accident was unknown.
