Eudora High School’s Boomer Mays participated in the Max Emfinger All-American Bowl in Baton Rouge, LA on New Year’s Eve. This game showcases some of the nations top senior football players.  Mays was the only player selected from the State of Kansas.

“It was cool to get to play with other guys I had never met before.  Two of my roommates are going to play for big Division 1 schools, one a Missouri and the other at Michigan State.  I really had a great time and made several new friends” Mays said.

Mays was featured as a linebacker and long snapper for the West Team and his performance earned him two post game
awards.  He was was named the Defensive team MVP and the All American Bowl Game Defensive MVP. Boomer finished the day with 13 tackles.

Despite the great defensive performance by Mays, The East beat the West 31-21.

Mays has verbally committed to play for Northern Illinois University, a Division 1 school in the MAC Conference.


The Eudora Cardinals beat Desoto Friday night at Eudora District Stadium 22-7. Boomer Mays scored two touchdowns and Christian  Richardson returned a punt for a touchdown to take the Cardinals to a 3-1 record on the season. Gabe Hamilton for Desoto found the end zone in the second quarter to give Desoto their only score of the game.

In 19 attempts, Mays ran 131 yards  for the victory.

Next Friday, the Cardinals head to Paola for a match up against the Panthers at 7:00PM.
