Main St. Wines & Spirits in downtown Eudora was the site of a one vehicle accident around 4:00PM Wednesday afternoon.
A female driver of a Toyota Tundra was driving northbound on Main St. when she lost control and failed to stop. No injuries were reported of either the driver or occupants of the liquor store.
According to Eudora Police Chief Grady Walker, alcohol consumption may have played a part in the accident. The female driver, whose name has not been released, is currently in custody.
E.J. Ellis, co-owner of Main St. Wines & Spirits, was in the store at the time of the accident. Visibly shaken by the incident, she described it as “all very shocking”.
Estimates of damage to the building and its contents were still undetermined.
Tina Montgomery, one of the owners of DC Custom Cycles, located next door, said that it sounded like a semi was coming down the street sideways. “All I could see was the dust.”
Damage was confined to the liquor store. An accident investigation is being conducted by the Eudora Police Department.
