The Eudora Autism Community Education and Support society (A.C.E.S.) will hold their annual awareness walk in downtown Eudora this Sunday, April 7 starting at 2:00 PM.
According to Jackie Folks, one of the coordinators of the Eudora ACES group, multiple activities are planned.
“The two fire departments will be coming together to help raise awareness. This is great news, as in the past it was only township,” Folks told us. ” There will be a BBQ with plate prices at $5 for adults and $3 for kids and a bounce house…all donated by the fire departments. The Lawrence area “balloon man” will also be there to entertain kids.”
Folks also told us about several baskets of goodies that will be offered in a silent auction as part of the fundraiser. If you would like to see some of the baskets, which include items like children’s books, hair and spa related items, Pool passes for the Eudora City pool and a BBQ cook set to name a few, you can go to the Eudora ACES Facebook page by clicking on the link here: Eudora ACES Facebook page.
Money raised from the benefit will buy wish list items for the early childhood program and resource rooms at the Eudora Elementary School. Folks said that about 20 families are currently being helped with IEP’s, sensory and therapy ideas, book sharing. She told us that the group links them with families together and other helpful organizations as well as helping them find the right doctors.
All the activities will begin in CPA Park with the gazebo as the starting point at 2:00 PM. Around 2:45 PM, the group will head up Main Street towards Cami’s Cake Co. where all proceeds from cupcake sales will benefit the ACES organization and the walk will conclude around 3:15 PM.
