Delays in construction to the new stadium complex near Eudora High School have forced district officials to reschedule two soccer matches that were originally scheduled for the new field.

The soccer games scheduled for August 31 against Ottawa and September 2nd against Payola have now been moved to those respective schools.

Kristin Magette, Director of Communications for the Eudora School District, posted on the School District’s web site Rumor Watch section:

This is caused entirely by periods of heavy rain that delayed work on the track. (The field, lights, stands and other elements were done in plenty of time for fall sports.) In order to properly lay a track, the ground must dry out to a standard compression factor before the asphalt can be laid. Heavy rain storms over the past several weeks have delayed completion of the project.

Currently, the first scheduled activity for the new stadium complex is the Junior Varsity Football game against Louisburg on September 6th. The Varsity football team will have their home opener September 10th against St. James and the soccer teams will get to take to their new home field on September 18th when they take on Tonganoxie.
