For the last few months, the Eudora School Board has been accepting applications for the Superintendent position with the Eudora School District. Current Superintendent Don Grosdidier announced in October of 2012 that he would retire from the District this coming summer.

In a letter to patrons of the District, Board President Eric Votaw stated how pleased he was with the number of candidates applying for the position.

“We were thrilled to have a large pool of highly qualified applicants to consider,” Votaw said. “Our search partners at KASB told us it was the most applicants they’ve had for a superintendent opening in several years. I am certain that this is a reflection of the positive reputation of our district and community.”

In the last few weeks, the Board has whittled down the list of candidates to three.  The finalists are visiting the Eudora School District this week. The District is releasing the names of the three finalists on the day of each candidates visit to Eudora.

On Monday, Brian Smith visited the District. Smith is currently the Superintendent of the Galena, KS School District in southeast Kansas. Before becoming superintendent in 2004, Smith had worked as high school principal and district curriculum director in Galena since 2002. During each candidate’s visit, the prospective Superintendent will tour the community and the schools in the District.  They will also meet with employees who are directly supervised by the Superintendent and meet the public at a short reception in the Eudora High School Library from 4:00 PM until 4:30 PM.  The next candidate, whose name has not yet been revealed, will be in Eudora on Tuesday and the last finalist will visit on Thursday.
