For the next few weeks, several municipalities will be monitoring speeds along K-10 between Kansas City and Lawrence.

According to Eudora Police Chief Bill Edwards, the initiative is being sponsored by the Kansas Department of Transportation who is paying for overtime of officers for increased monitoring.

Edwards did want to give Eudora motorists a heads up that the Eudora portion of K-10 will have several officers watching for speeders on Thursday August 7.  In addition, Eudora will have enhanced enforcement on Wednesday, August 20 and Thursday, August 21.  Edwards said the stepped up enforcement will be focus on K-10 those days.  Edwards did not state what times of day the extra enforcement would be conducted or precisely where officers would be stationed.

Edwards warned motorists to always watch their speed not only on the highways, but the city streets as well.
