Penny Annie's former location in Downtown Lawrence

Eudora News and

One of the much anticipated businesses coming to Downtown Eudora is Penny Annie’s Sweet Shoppe.  The shop will be located at 704 Main Street which was last occupied by the Curve’s Fitness Center.

Originally slated to open around August 1, the business has yet to open the doors.  We have been unable to reach owners Monica and Tony Istas to inquire about the delay, but the following message was posted the on their Facebook Page:

Update: We are still in the process of getting the new shoppe in Eudora opened up. We are hoping to be opening around Mid-Sept. We appreciate everyone “liking” our page and patiently waiting! We hope to see you all soon. Please continue to spread the word about our facebook page and we’ll continue to keep you updated!

Through sources at City Hall, we have learned that they recently picked up a permit application and are going through the process to open up in Eudora.

We will keep you posted on any new information that we receive and an eventual grand opening date.

One Response to Penny Annie’s Update

  • New codes. Hard to do when you are opening a new business. New sign restrictions and on and on.
Yes we need to have safe businesses, but Eudora is not JO CO and when you have to fork over thousands extra to open your doors to make the first penny, it is hard to do.
I wish them all the luck in the world.
I hear Baldwin and Tongi are a lot less restrictive and willing to work with new businesses very well. Just an idea.
