Eudora News and Information

The Eudora Chamber of Commerce and are proud to announce the opportunity for you to meet and learn about your possible future legislators.  Meet the Candidates 2012 – The GOP Primary will focus on the two races that will impact Eudora: The 42nd House District and the 3rd Senate District.

On Tuesday, July 17 at 7:00 PM at Eudora City Hall, the Republican candidates for the House and Senate seats will have the opportunity to  introduce themselves to you and will be answering questions determined by a panel made up of the Chamber of Commerce and  The public will also have a chance to ask questions of the candidates in a Q & A style session.  Since there are no Democratic challengers in the primary race, the Democratic side is not featured in this primary forum.  There will be a Meet the Candidates Forum later this year where the winner of the Republican primary and the Democratic candidate will meet to help you make an informed decision about your candidates and whom to vote for.

The candidates for the 42nd House seat are incumbent Representative Connie O’Brien (Tonganoxie) and challenger Sandra Bohne (Leavenworth).  After the redistricting of Kansas was completed by a three judge panel in June, the 42nd House District covers a large section of central and western Leavenworth County along with the eastern portion of Douglas County that encompasses Eudora.  The winner of the GOP Primary will take on Harold D. Fevurly Jr. (Leavenworth) in the General Election in November.

The 3rd Distrist Senate candidates are Representative Anthony Brown (Eudora) and J.C. Tollefson (Leavenworth).  The 3rd District Senate seat takes in most of Leavenworth County but does not include the city of Leavenworth itself. The district also has a large part of Douglas County in  it’s boundaries, including Eudora, Baldwin City and Lawrence south of 23rd Street.  The winner of this race will battle incumbent Senator Tom Holland (Baldwin City).

The 42nd House candidates will be featured from 7:00 PM to approximately 7:40 PM with the 3rd District Candidates taking the dais around 7:45 PM.  There will be light snacks and beverages served at this event and the public is invited to attend.  The Chamber of Commerce and hope that you can attend and Meet the Candidates.
