The Kansas Turnpike Authority has switched traffic through the construction zone between Lawrence and Eudora to one lane in each direction in the westbound lanes. Removal of the eastbound lanes will now take place and reconstruction of the eastbound lanes will be ongoing. According to KTA sources, the project is still running on schedule and is expected to be completed in mid November.
The last of the lane switches for eastbound traffic was completed on Friday evening, causing a rather long backup during the rush hour. The KTA, via their alert system, warned drivers to exit at the Lecompton exit if possible during this switchover.
