Eudora News and Information

Holy Family Catholic Church will hold Ground Breaking and Blessing Ceremonies on a new facility following the 9:30 am Mass on Sunday, September 14. The new facility will be constructed east of the current church located at 820 Birch St. in Eudora.

Archbishop Joseph Naumann will preside over the ceremonies joined by Fr. Pat Riley, Pastor of Holy Family Church, Doug Pickert, Chairman of the Building Committee and Adam Hermanson, Integration Design Group and Michael Blackledge, Piper-Wind Architects.

“I’m so proud of our families,” Father Riley said. “In spite of the economy, many of our Catholic families very generous because they realize that this growing parish is desperately in need of larger facilities, additional classrooms and an accessible parish hall.” The $3.6 million facility designed by Integration Design Group and Piper-wind Architects will be built by Excel Construction Company , and is scheduled to begin immediately with completion expected in early Fall 2015.

Holy Family Catholic Church was founded in 1859, and this is only the second move in the Parish’s history. Construction of the original Church at 9th & Church Street was completed in 1864 and the Church is still used for special occasions. The existing Church and Parish Hall at 820 Birch will be renovated for more classroom space and a larger accessible Parish Hall.
