Today long-time Eudora resident, Ms. Fern Long, celebrates her 97th Birthday! Ms. Long was born on May 25, 1915 in Missouri. She married her husband Raymond on January 25, 1933 and moved to Eudora in the early 1940s. Ray and Fern had four children together. Ms. Long is a member of the United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School classes for nearly six decades.

Ms. Long played an instrumental role in the establishment of the Eudora Area Historical Society in the early 1980s. Without Ms. Long’s tireless efforts to preserve the History of the Eudora Area, much of our History would have been lost or forgotten.

Ms. Long has been a pillar of the Eudora community for over seven decades. Here’s to hoping her 97th Birthday is a special and memorable day!

  • Happy Birthday to a wonderful woman who has influenced so many lives, and who happens to be my grandmother! Among her many accomplishments are 10 grandchildren (two in Heaven) and 18 great-grandchildren — if I counted correctly. Thank you for recognizing her contributions to Eudora through the many years she has lived there.

  • Thank you so much for this sweet write-up about my Grandma’s birthday and her contribution to the Eudora community!

  • Happy Birthday Ms. Long. Even though I dont know you I think you sound incredible. It is so “refreshing” to see items such as this on the occasion over some of the politics in town. Your inspiring!
