Fire crews from around the area responded to a house fire in the 1300 block of Elm Street late Monday night.  Crews from Eudora, Eudora Township and Wakarusa Township were called to the scene around 11:00 PM.

According to one of the firefighters who was on scene during the blaze, when crews arrived they found the garage fully involved and the fire quickly spread to the attic area. The firefighter stated that there was no early determination for the cause of the fire and that investigators would be looking into the cause during the day on Tuesday.

Crews also fought bitterly cold temperatures as the low overnight hovered between 0 and -5 degrees.  The fire was reported to be completely extinguished around 1:30 AM.

Damage estimates were currently unavailable, though the firefighter stated that at least the rooms nearest to the garage are likely a  total loss.  The house is owned by Ray and Dorothy Wingebach.
