Thursday night, the Eudora School District Board of Education received a report on the status of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) statistics for the 2009-2010 school year. These statistics are the measurement system put in place with the No Child Left Behind Act that is federally mandated.
The Eudora School District showed gains in almost all areas. One piece of very positive news to School District officials is that the school district made enough significant gains and is now off of the “On Watch” List for 2010. Reading and math target percentage levels were generally 1 to 3 percentage points higher than the Kansas average.
Now the schools will focus on improving those scores for next year as the AYP increases each year until 100% AYP is to be achieved in 2014 according to the No Child Left Behind Act.
