Eudora News and has released a listing of the 2015 Top 30 cities in Kansas to raise a family and Eudora comes in at the top of the list.

According to the website, the factors that went into creating the rankings were crime and safety, education quality, access to libraries, housing, community involvement and and investment, day care and grocery store access.

Housing was the factor that fared the best in their assessment of Eudora giving it a grade of A-.  Community investment and involvement along with the Crime and safety garnered B+ grades.  Education and access to libraries pulled B’s while access to grocery stores came in at C+ and day care access was defined with an average grade of C.

Spring Hill, KS came in second with most of their grades in the B+ to B- range. Only their housing rated an A and they received no C’s.  The only other Douglas County city to make the list was Lawrence at 9th.

Eudora City Manager Gary Ortiz was happy to see Eudora as the number one city on the list.

“I’m encouraged by the ranking and it is certainly complimentary,” Ortiz said. “It shows how the investments of the past in parks, schools and green spaces has an overall effect of raising the quality of life.”

While it’s always nice to see Eudora come in at the top of any best type list, bear in mind that these types of lists and rankings are doing by multiple websites and they are usually not conducted in a scientific manner.  Many times they are based solely on data collected from various sources that may be not necessarily be accurate.
