A Eudora police officer was injured this morning in an accident on K-10 near Church St.  The accident occurred around 7:15AM on the eastbound side of K-10.

According to Eudora Police Chief Grady Walker, Eudora Police Officer Brandon Sharp was injured while a Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy and Sharp were working a one vehicle accident on K-10.  Sharp’s car was struck by another vehicle causing the injury to Sharp.

“I don’t know the extent of the injuries yet, but I know they are non life threatening,” Walker said. “Kansas Highway Patrol is working that accident investigation currently.”

According to our reporting partner, The Lawrence Journal-World, the Sheriff’s Deputy was not injured, but the county vehicle was also struck in the process. There was no word on how much damage was done to the vehicles.

We will update this story as the story develops.

10:03 AM Update:  In a follow up conversation with Chief Walker, Officer Sharp will likely be treated and released shortly.

“Officer Sharp had no broken bones just some bruises and sprains,” Walker stated. “There were some other injuries that are likely minor so he will need some time off, but otherwise he (Sharp) is okay.”
