Eudora News and Information – www.eudoraeporter.com
It’s been a busy week with businesses around town and we wanted to update our readers on several things that have gone on or are in the works.
Dairy Queen Update: We talked with Steve Walter, the owner of the Dairy Queen in Eudora about the recent fire. Walter stated that he does in fact plan on remodeling and reopening the Dairy Queen. An exact amount of damage or a timetable for when it will open is yet to be determined. Walter told EudoraReporter.com “there are so many things including insurance, permits, inspections, etc.. that we do not yet know how fast we can get everything done.”
We did talk to one of the employees of the Dairy Queen who wished to remain anonymous and they stated that Walter is working on trying to help out the employees while the remodeling is going on. The employee did tell us that Walter wants all the employees back when DQ reopens.

Cami’s Cake Co. changes their business model: Cami’s Cake Company which recently opened up next door the Black Cat Cafe in downtown has changed their plans slightly. They have decided to not have normal hours open to the public. They are approaching their business marketing by using social networking giant Facebook and the internet as their vehicle to reach the public. You can call or use the internet to communicate with them and order cakes for weddings and special events. They also plan on having monthly parties at their new location to sell specially themed cakes and cupcakes tied to the event of that month. They mentioned to us they are looking at doing something in the next couple of weeks geared toward St. Patrick’s day and will feature Easter and other holidays in the coming months.
New Pharmacy going in at 15th & Church Street: Auburn Pharmacy has rented the location that used to be Simple Simon’s Pizza. According to Mike Burn’s, owner of the Auburn Pharmacy chain, he said that he hopes to have his newest pharmacy open sometime in May. “We believe that there is room for two pharmacies in town and we hope to provide people an option here in Eudora instead of using pharmacies in Lawrence or other communities. We want to help bring a lot of business back to Eudora from Lawrence.” Burns grew up in the Eudora community and has always looked forward to bringing a pharmacy to serve the community where his family still lives. This will be the 15th pharmacy in the Auburn chain.
