The National Weather Service in Topeka has now canceled the Winter Storm Watch and posted a Winter Storm warning for Douglas County, effective from 9AM Wednesday until 6AM Thursday.

Significant snows are expected to start after Noon Wednesday with accumulations expected to be between 5 and 8 inches by Thursday morning. Peak snowfall rates late Wednesday could be an inch per hour.

Travel Wednesday evening is expected to be hazardous, particularly during the evening commute.  Unnecessary travel is not encouraged and if it must be on the roads, it is suggested that you slow down and allow plenty of extra time to reach your destination.

Other counties included in the warning are: Marshall, Nemaha, Brown, Pottawatmoie, Jackson, Jefferson, and Shawnee.
