Eudora has a long association with anti-horse thief societies. The Central Protective Agency (CPA) sought to bring horse thieves to a type of vigilante justice in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Eudora.
Kansas Wesleyan Professor John Burchill recently published a book on the topic of anti-horse thief societies, titled “Bullets, Badges and Bridles: Horse Thieves and the Societies that Pursued Them.” Professor Burchill will be in Eudora for our March Program to discuss his latest book, which features Eudora. Copies of his book will be on sale following his presentation.
Our March Program will be at 7:30pm on Thursday March 20th and will be held at Eudora City Hall. Contact Ben Terwilliger, 785-690-7900, EudoraHistory@gmail.com, for additional information. This event is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
