The Eudora Area Historical Society will have its March meeting this Thursday, March 21 at 7:30pm at Eudora City Hall.
Local Historian Ronda Hassig has been asked back for an encore performance. Ronda will discuss events of Quantrill’s Raid on Lawrence and it’s connection to Eudora more in-depth. Ronda recently wrote a work of historical fiction The Abduction of Jacob Rote. Jacob Rote was a German boy from the Eudora area who was allegedly kidnapped by William Quantrill and his gang of Raiders en route to Lawrence in 1863. Jacob Rote’s kidnapping was one of the many ways in which Eudora relates to the horrific events of Quantrill’s Raid in Lawrence in 1863. Ronda will have copies of her book for sale following the presentation.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!
