Eleven Eudora girls participated in the Steve McGinnis Fastpitch Softball Tournament this past weekend and won the 7 team event by going undefeated, finishing the weekend with a 6-0 record.
The Eudora Thunder 10 and Under team defeated the Kansas Magic 10-1 in the semi-final game as Riley Foltz pitched the Thunder to victory, striking out seven batters and giving up one run. The Thunder found themselves down after the first inning 1-0 before Claire Ewy drove the ball deep into left field and rounded the bases for an inside the park homerun. The display of power wasn’t over as Lauren Abrams seemingly duplicated the feat in the 4th inning as she drove the ball to the fence and touched all the bases for another Thunder homerun.
In the championship game the Eudora Thunder jumped out early and scored six runs in the first inning; two in the second, and three in the third. Five Thunder players had two hits in the contest, Riley Foltz, Claire Ewy, Alex Garcia, Riley Hiebert, and Kalen Dressler. Riley Foltz was once again the winning pitcher, striking out nine and giving up no runs in the contest. The Thunder won the Championship game 10-0.
Members of the Eudora Thunder are: Kelby Dressler, Anna Smoots, Claire Ewy, Riley Foltz, Alex Garcia, Riley Hiebert, Kassidy Maring, Kalen Dressler, Lauren Abrams, Reagan Hiebert, and Ashleigh Feyerabend. The head coach is Bryan Maring.
