Early morning storms on Saturday knocked out power to many residents in Eudora. The storms rolled through around 5:00 AM Saturday with the most impact being near 6th and Main Street in downtown Eudora.

According to Public Works Director Mike Hutto, the department received a call at 5:20 AM indicating a tree limb down blocking the roadway.  The tree limb also took out a power line serving approximately 25 customers in the downtown area. Crews worked through the morning to reestablish power to the affected area and had power restored around 10:00 AM.

Several other locations around town had downed limbs and power lines that caused minor outages throughout town.

“The Police Department played a huge part working with public works to get the streets clear,” Huttto added.

Several blocks near downtown Eudora had limbs off to the side of the road early Monday morning.

Hutto said that on Monday, crews from the city would begin the work of removing the downed limbs and doing tree trimming to help avoid further outages in the future.
