The City of Eudora has announced that David Burger has been named interim Police Chief for the City of Eudora.  Burger takes over after the resignation of Grady Walker earlier in September.

Burger most recently served as Undersheriff for the Johnson County Sheriff’.  Burger retired from the position in May of 2010. Prior to that, Burger served in both the Shawnee and Lenexa Police Departments.

In a press release, Eudora City Administrator John Harrenstein talked about his enthusiasm to add Burger to the staff.

“We are pleased that David Burger has accepted our offer to serve as interim Police Chief.  A man of his professional experience and reputation within the law enforcement community is exactly what we need at this time for the Eudora Police Department.”

Harrenstein stated in an interview with that he is looking forward to Burger coming on board and is excited that Burger will be assisting with the hiring of a new Police Chief. Harrenstein added that he expected to have a new full time Police Chief hired by the beginning of 2013.

“It will be a competitive and open process,” Harrenstein said. “We will be looking for a candidate that is ready to lead the department into the future.”
