The Eudora City Council has changed the hours of the Eudora Brush dump. The new hours, now expanded on the weekends, are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. The brush pile is also open on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  The weekday hours remained unchanged.

At the request of Eudora Mayor Scott Hopson, the Council discussed the hours of the facility. Hopson stated he had received several complaints from citizens that the current hours did not allow them to utilize the facility due to work and, in some cases, church commitments.  Prior to the Council’s decision, the facility was open from 8:00AM to Noon on Saturday and Sunday.  The gates to the brush pile are locked after hours.

The City Council did discuss the option of leaving the gates unlocked all the time, but at the urging of City Administration this idea was abandoned to help discourage the dumping of non brush materials at the site.

According to Mike Hutto, Public Works Director, last year the Public Works department hauled off a couple of couches and approximately 15 mattresses that had been illegally dumped at the site.
