Representative Anthony Brown came up just slightly short in his bid for Speaker Pro Tem of the Kansas House of Representatives.
In a hotly contested race for Speaker Pro Tem, five candidates vied for the position and it took four separate ballots to determine a winner. Brown lost the fourth and final ballot to Rep. Jean Vickrey, R-Louisburg, 47-43.
“It was a good election and I lost to a good friend of mine.” Brown said. “I’m looking forward to the new leadership in January”.
Brown said running again in the future would depend on several factors including what positions might be open in the next legislature.
“I expect that I’ll have a chairmanship position and the next session will be challenging.”
In the last session, Brown served as Chairman of the Financial Institutions Committee and served on the the Taxation, Federal and State Affairs, and Insurance Committees.
