Kaw Valley Sand Company has withdrawn their application for the sand pit that was to be located on the property of the former Eudora Country Club north of town. By withdrawing this application, Kaw Valley will have to begin the process from the beginning in the future if they wish to continue to seek the use of this property as a location for the sand dredging operation.
“This application as it was presented is done,” City Administrator John Harrenstein told us. ” They are free to come back in the future, but from what I understand, at this time there are no plans to do so.”
At post time, we could not reach Kaw Valley Sand spokesperson Price T. Banks for comment.
This topic was scheduled to once again go in front of the Douglas County Commission this evening. The Commission had previously asked for a report to be submitted to the Commission on how, if at all, the operation would affect the Eudora water well system located next door to the proposed operation. There was no word if that report was the reason the application has been withdrawn.
