Bikers For Babies, the annual motorcycle ride that benefits the March of Dimes in Kansas City will not be making it’s way through Eudora this year. Due to construction scheduled for K-10 and in North Lawrence, this annual charity event will be taking a different route. For rider safety, the March of Dimes wants to avoid the construction zones. Bikers for Babies has traveled through Eudora many times in in it’s 15 year history.
This years ride will take place on Sunday, September 19th and will start at the Kansas Speedway. The Route will take riders through such towns as: Tonganoxie, Basehor, Oskaloosa and McLouth.
Bikers for Babies KC is the largest March of Dimes rally in the United States. In 2009, Bikers for Babies raised nearly $700,000 for the March of Dimes in Kansas City. Past celebrity riders for the KC Bikers for Babies run have included Dee Snider (Rock band Twisted Sister and A&E TV’s Growing Up Twisted) and Jess James Dupree (rock band Jackyl, Tru TV’s Full Throttle Saloon). This year’s honorary chairman is Johnny Dare, morning host on 98.9 The Rock in Kansas City. The ride gets underway at 8AM on September 19th and will feature a 115 mile ride entirely in Kansas. Karli Ritter from Fox-4 TV will emcee the opening ceremonies at the Kansas Speedway.
