This Saturday, His Hands Clothing Closet will be holding a fundraiser in front of Cutter’s Smokehouse, 218 E. 20th Street from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The fundraiser is to help raise money for a budget as well as possibly securing a building to house the clothing outreach in.
His Hands Clothing Closet provides clothing to those in need at very little or, in most cases, no charge. The charity was founded in 2009 by local resident Christine Zimmer.
“I started this because I truly care about our community. I believe we can all do our part to help one another, this is my way of saying thanks,” Zimmer said. “I just want to pay it forward.”
Several organizations have donated their time and services to the fundraiser. The Eudora Township Fire Department will by providing BBQ and have a bounce house available. Tad’s Tropical Snow will be there, as well as Games 2U and the Balloonman will be there to twist balloons for the children. The event is free to attend and donations will be requested.
There will also be a silent auction of multiple items. Several items in the auction will be of interest to KU fans including a 2011-2012 KU team basketball signed by the team, a basketball signed by Bill Self, and a KU football signed by Charlie Weiss. Chiefs fans will have their opportunity to bid on an autographed picture of Derrick Johnson, Linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs. Many more items will also be offered in the auction.
