Pastor Harry Patterson would like anyone in need, without family or just plain lonely to come to a free Thanksgiving dinner hosted by his church group, Christ International, Inc. It will be served at the church location, 11th & Main in Eudora, at 1:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving day.
“It will be a homestyle, home cooked meal,” said Pastor Harry. “We’ll have everything you would have at home—turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and, of course, pie.”
Holidays can be a tough time for those without family or who are in a financial crisis. Pastor Harry and his congregation would love the opportunity to provide not only a delicious meal but a time of fellowship and fun to anyone who doesn’t have other plans. It would be helpful if those who would like to attend would RSVP to 785-312-4263.
The church hopes to serve the community in other ways, too. “We’re opening a food pantry and clothing closet for the needy that we hope to have ready by the first of the year,” explained Pastor Harry. “We’ll be working with Harvesters to provide food for those in need.”
Though he’s been in Eudora since 2009, Pastor Harry spent 12 years serving Christ in India as a missionary. His goal is to start a school to train people for missions. For now he preaches the gospel at 10:30 on Sunday mornings and 7:00 on Wednesday evenings, and holds a Saturday night prayer meeting in the building that formerly housed Eudora Baptist Church. Anyone is welcome to attend the services.
Pastor Harry and his wife Thelma have two grown children, one in Texas and one in California.
