A couple of businesses in town are making some changes.
Free State Guns and Tactical Weapons has moved from it’s location on Main Street out south to 20th Street in the strip mall between Cutter’s Smokehouse and Keith Nowland’s State Farm Insurance Agency. This is a portion of the space that was formerly Durkin’s Hardware store. The moved occurred earlier this week.
Owner Larry Minkler told us the new location will allow him to expand and offer more items.
“We plan on adding more 5.11 items and it will allow us to have more firearms in stock,” Minkler said. “In addition, the larger space will allow my gunsmith to be on site here more often and we will be able to provide even better service to our customers.”
Minkler said the store hours will be growing as well. The business will now be open 7 days a week from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM weekdays, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Saturday and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sundays.
Speaking of Cutter’s Smokehouse, they are expanding as well. Co-owner Tracy Trefz told us they are adding breakfast to their menu and will open the doors at 6:30 AM. Trefz said that the plan, as of earlier this week, was to start serving breakfast on Tuesday, April 8.
“Our customers really enjoy our meals and we saw this as a way to expand to and give the community another alternative for breakfast as well,” Trefz said. “The menu will start with traditional breakfast fare, but we are looking to start adding some signature dishes to the menu very quickly and give some variety to early morning patrons.”
A certain reporter who will go nameless licked his lips when he thought of a nice big rib breakfast or possibly the Thursday treat of their boneless ribs a little more often, but I guess I will have to wait a while longer for that. In the mean time, I will have to muddle along with bacon, eggs, sausage and a few other delicious early morning items that I know will fit well into my diet. (okay, maybe not so well, but…..)
